They had very pretty Property — enough, had their family been of reasonableLimits to have allowed them a verygentlemanlike Share of Luxuries & Change enough for them to have indulged in anew Carriage & better roads, an occasionala Summermonthoccasionally at Tunbridge Wells, & asymptoms of the Goutandto make a Winterat Bath; – but the maintenance, Edu::cation & fitting out of 14 Children de::manded a very quiet, settled, carefulcourse of Life — & forbidding obliged them to be stationary & healthy at Willingden.What Prudence had at first enjoined,was now rendered pleasant by Habit. They never left home, & they had a gra::tificaton in saying so. — But very farfrom wishing their Children to do thesame, they were glad to promote theirgetting out into the World, as muchas poſsible. Theystaid at home, thattheir Childrenmight get out; — and while making that home extremely comfortable, welcomed every change from it whichcould  give useful connections orrespectable acquaintance to Sons or Daughters.lead them into respectable Company.
